Preventing tooth decay and gum disease requires regular professional cleaning of the teeth to remove bacteria and plaque.
We take our time to carry out the following measures during a prophylaxis session:
- removal of tartar using ultrasonic and hand instruments
- removal of soft plaque ( the firmly adhering layer of bacteria )
- cleaning of the clinically accessible root surfaces
- removal of coffee, nicotine and other stains with an air-polishing device ( Airflow )
- fluoride application to the individual teeth to improve the quality of the tooth enamel and root cementum
- polishing of fillings
- advice on your individual dental care at home
- assessment of your individual risk of tooth decay and periodontitis
- saliva testing during pregnancy
However, statutory health insurance only covers the removal of tartar. For worthwhile further measures to prevent tooth decay and periodontal disease, we will be happy to issue you with a private invoice for the fee agreed in advance.
The preventive care programme for children also includes:
- Age-appropriate advice and motivation in dental care
- Practising optimal, individual oral hygiene
- Sealing the healthy tooth surfaces
- Checking and recording how successful tooth care has been
In addition, we recommend professional teeth cleaning at least twice a year, especially for young people.
